In September of 2016 members of the Centerport Garden club Horticulture Study Group visited The Cloisters in Fort Tryon Park in New York. It is a part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and has, not only Art ,but also has replicas of medieval herbal gardens. With the guiding of an excellent docent the members learned a great deal about the history of medicinal plants which are still in gardens today.
At the Centerport Garden Club’s March 2016 meeting held at the Harborfields Library we introduced the new incoming executive board members and welcomed 4 new members to our club.
Incoming Executive Board: Kris Strandfeldt: Recording Secretary, Mary Ahern: Communications, Sally Lauve & Anne Wesp: 1st VP, Jan Kahn: President, Pat Brooks: Treasurer.
Welcome to our newest CGC members: Lyn Moodie, Silke Nitsch, Barbara Browne & Donna Rusinski.
There was also an excellent lecture given by Michael Tessitore speaking on “Dealing with the increasing deer population on Long Island.”
Our gorgeous floral arrangement was by our member Gail Berti.
