A Stroll Through Long Island History
On June 2, members enjoyed a guided tour of historic
Sagtikos Manor in Bay Shore. The tour highlighted the
estate’s rich history, including the manor house,
built in 1697 and expanded in 1772 and 1902. Led by
tour guide Celeste Topazio, members strolled through
the walled garden, admiring a long border of heritage
peonies, grapevines, and other perennial plantings, and
were treated to a first-floor tour of the manor, which
remains remarkably intact in its original condition. The
outing was arranged by Kate Flore.
